Zhuhai Dali Cutting Tools Co., Ltd.
In 1898, based on its expertise in manufacturing cigarette‑cutting blades, the company was founded as the Oyane Brothers Joint Venture. In 1956, it was renamed OYANE RIKI MFG CO., LTD (Oyane Tools Manufacturing Co., Ltd.), and subsequently established sales subsidiaries in several major Japanese cities. In June 2009, ORC HONG KONG LTD. and Zhuhai Dali Cutting Tools Co., Ltd. (an independent legal entity) were set up. In 2017, ORC HOLDINGS CO., LTD. was established, and the following year underwent a corporate restructuring, comprising the investment holding company ORC HOLDINGS CO., LTD., along with its subsidiaries: ORC JAPAN CORPORATION (responsible for sales, technical development, and quality assurance), OYANE RIKI MFG CO., LTD. (responsible for production and quality management), and ORC HONG KONG LTD. (responsible for overseas sales).

Standard products from some domestic brands—such as common drill bits, taps, and carbide inserts—pose little technical challenge and are often the targets of counterfeiters’ shoddy manufacturing. In regions like Jiangsu and Zhejiang, as well as in Hebei, many small enterprises and even family-run workshops adopt this approach: they minimize costs by using inferior materials—for example, low‑alloy high-speed steel in drill‑bit production—or by refurbishing scrap tools, thereby reaping exorbitant profits. Some even affix the trademarks of well‑known brands to boost sales; for instance, a tool factory in Jinyun County, Zhejiang, was once found to be mass‑producing counterfeit cutting tools bearing a prominent domestic brand name, along with thousands of labels printed with the counterfeit company’s name and address.

The earliest documented account of the invention of the twist drill dates back to 1822, though it was not commercially produced until 1864.
