Company History
In August of the 898th year, during the Ansei and Jōji eras, inheriting the sword‑making expertise of Yūhiro, the founder established the Ōyanagi Brothers Joint Venture, specializing in the manufacture of cigarette‑cutting knives, and was appointed an official supplier for the tobacco monopoly.
August 1909: The company was reorganized as the Oya-ne Brothers Trading Partnership.
May 1912: Absorbed and merged three companies in the same industry.
In April 1915, the Asahi Tobacco Knife Company was established in Shanghai, China, marking the commencement of its tobacco knife export business.
In October 1933, production of steel saws commenced.
March 1944: The company was renamed Oyanagi Tool Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
December 1951: The hacksaw obtained JIS certification.
March 1953: Commencement of pliers manufacturing.
December 1956: The company was reorganized into Oya-ne Weaponry Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
May 1957: Pliers obtained JIS certification.
October 1960: Awarded the Director-General’s Prize of the Japan Industrial Technology Institute as an excellent factory meeting Japanese industrial standards.
July 1971: Capital increased by 30 million yen.
April 1976: Capital increased by 60 million yen.
April 1980: Established the Tokyo Sales Office.
April 1986: The Oyako Plant in the Oyako Coast area of Nio Town was completed, and the hacksaw division was relocated.
September 1987: Established a joint venture in Hsinchu, Taiwan—Daya Precision Cutting Tools Co., Ltd.
April 1991: Established the Osaka Office.
February 1992: The Saruma Factory was established in the Matsushita area of Saruma Town.
August 1998: Centenary of the company’s founding
November 2000: Obtained ISO 9001 certification.
August 2003: Received Sony Green Partner Certification.
September 2005: Obtained ISO 14001 certification.
August 2008, 110th Anniversary
June 2009: ORC HONG KONG LTD. and Zhuhai Dali Cutting Tools Co., Ltd. were established.
April 2017: ORC HOLDINGS CO., LTD. was established.
March 2018: ORC JAPAN CORPORATION was established.
June 2018: Transferred to a new corporate structure due to the company’s spin-off.
