Moreover, it contributes Chinese wisdom to forging a new form of human civilization and to guiding the development and progress of world civilizations. Leading cadres must, from the political standpoint of profoundly understanding the decisive significance of the “two establishments” and resolutely upholding the “two safeguards,” comprehensively and systematically deepen their study of the rich connotations and practical requirements of this important thought, and uphold the principles of cultivating oneself through culture and nourishing the heart with virtue. They should translate the outcomes of their studies into concrete achievements in their work, earnestly implement the CPC Central Committee’s decisions and arrangements on cultural development, and strive to demonstrate fresh momentum and make new contributions in the endeavor to build a strong socialist culture and to forge a modern civilization of the Chinese nation.

Launch the Ninth National Selection and Commendation Campaign for Ethical Role Models

BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) — In order to vigorously cultivate and practice the core socialist values, promote traditional Chinese virtues, and foster a new ethos and image for our times, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Office of Spiritual Civilization Construction of the CPC Central Committee, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Communist Youth League Central Committee, the All-China Women’s Federation, and the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission have recently issued the “Notice on the Selection and Commendation of the Ninth National Ethical Role Models” (the full text is attached separately) along with its implementation measures. These documents set forth plans to launch the selection and commendation process for the ninth cohort of national ethical role models, calling for extensive campaigns to study and publicize these role models, guiding the public to admire, learn from, and strive to become ethical role models, thereby fostering a robust social atmosphere characterized by moral excellence, emulation of the virtuous, and the pursuit of virtue in all endeavors.
